Pulling apart words with magnetic boards

Here we are reviewing past lessons:

Closed syllables- vowel short; closed with a consonant

Digraphs- two consonant letters that make one sound

Blends- two/three consonants together to make a blended sound

Welds- two/three letters welded together (consonant after vowel is a nasal consonant)

Closed syllable exceptions- vowel is closed by a consonant but the vowel is long....does not follow the closed syllable rule

Blend and Digraph

Welds are green

Vowels are orange

Digraph....'ank' should have been a green tile.

Closed syllable exception
