Language Therapist to Language Therapist

The best book EVER!!!!  So excited yesterday when I got the Bible of MSLE teaching for basic language skills.  Once I got home I raced to find my post-it-notes and highlighters.  Here's what happened at the party.....

I can't wait to add all the margin notes, pictures, experiences, and creative touches......Oh my....I could bedazzle the flower on the front cover!!!!   Reading a book will never be the same again!

Disgraphia at it's Best.

Never judge a book by it's cover....
You might miss the treasure that is inside.

A vehement Kangaroo that wants to uxoricide it's mate.....So creative!  I am going to miss the thoughts that think outside of the box.

Special to my Heart

I think there needs to be a National Thank You Day.  These Thank You cards are precious.

And some more special gifts to remind me how much these students care.

Home made salsa!  YUMMY!!!

I have gotten compliments on this necklace every time I have worn it!

A Quick Birthday Gift.....Lunchbag Photo Album

I'm getting really good with a glue stick.  I'm down to making an album in three hours!  It does help if you have all the supplies.
Dance Edition for a Dancer.

Love my new punches!

Using left over paper from other projects.

Pockets on the outside and inside of the bags.

A little bedazzling on the inside.

Cute tags to bring a smile.
I didn't think about this...but now that Polaroid cameras are making a come back...these pockets are perfect!  I tried scrap-booking with our old Polaroid pictures from the 70's and it was a pain since you couldn't cut them....now with pockets in the scrap-books...you can just slide them in and go!

Bird House Scrap-Book.....One for the Flowers

Laura Denison has a You-Tube video with instructions on how to make one of her birdhouses.  It seemed like a good one day project.  And with all the rain that's been creating our streets to flood, houses to float down rivers, and lakes exceeding their limits by 20+ feet.....scrap-booking with deliciously gorgeous paper seemed to put me in my happy place.

Wonderful Tags!!!!

With a cute accordion fold on the sides.

Bursts of Tags!

Tags!  Tags!  Tags!  They are exploding everywhere....so much fun.  I hope these are gifts that are adding joy to people's lives instead of anxiety; because I have made three of them so far!

I don't know why these boxes of paper make me smile so much!  I love making them and I love seeing them open every single time.

I think it is the joy of making that small box inside of a box.  Blows my mind every time it turns out cute and fits!  Got the idea from Laura Denison.  It just seems like a box that keeps giving.

A Wonderful Moment as a Language Therapist

I introduced a new concept when we were spelling 'knowledge'.  A student kept forgetting the letter 'd'.  So I boxed 'dge' and asked the class what this phonological component represented.  I stated that there are three letters that make one sound.

The student who came in mid-year....was the only one who said the correct answer.....'Trigraph'!  I asked him how he came up with that answer....since everyone was surprised by his correctness.  He said, " Well, Ms. L....you said that 'di' means 'two' like in digraph.  And I know that 'tri' means 'three' so....I decided to say 'trigraph'.

I could feel in my heart the morphology angels beating their wings together in praise.

Love these moments!

A special gift

Texas will now literally be close to my heart.

I'm glad I was your teacher
I've come to love you so.
I can't believe the end is here.
I hate to see you go.
Remember all the fun we had
in all the things we did,
But most of all remember...
You're a very special kid!

Kitty Care......

Some students found a stray kitten by itself and decided to take care of it.  The kitten has been adored, cuddled, and loved by all who are not allergic to cats.  I had 2nd period off so I got to have kitten duty!  Here are some adorable pics....a much needed cat fix since my baby Jack is far away from his mother.

Baking with Beth

Coconut Creme and Strawberry Delight cupcakes.

I decided the Coconut Creme needed a little Strawberry Delight....heaven to my taste buds!

Got a special award....

The Chauncey Award is given to a person who showed up to a variety of sporting events and the coaches voted on who would get this award.  To be given this award is very special to me since I think it is important for teachers/staff to attend the home athletic events.  I hope I am able to continue to support student activities where ever God allows me to serve.

Don't you know the saying?  "Flowers die, Ferns are forever."

This is the second time I have received this award.  So now I am in the Hall of Fame for the Chauncey Award.

A special family that will always hold dear memories close to our hearts.

Making a scrap-book holder to look like a Fashion Shop

So, I LOVED the Graphic 45 fashion paper online.  Since, I was making a Tea Shop and had all the available tools out....why not make a Fashion Shop at the same time?  My Fashion shop does not follow the pattern that is on the Laura Denision website.  I used the Tea Shop pattern and then changed the front window size and put an extra window on the roof.

I meant to put the door on the other side but forgot in my haste to get these projects done.

There is a cute little sewing machine in the window!!!1

Matching scrap-book inside.

Pulling the scrap-book out.

Fun Embellishments.

The envelope corners get caught on each other and bend quite a bit.

This paper is delicious!!!
And here are the shops next to each other.  So much better than just having scrap-books on a shelf.  Love this idea!  Now I just need someone who can help me do the math and cutting.  Maybe then I'll have an entire village.

Making a scrap-book holder to look like a Tea Shop

So I bought the pattern from Laura Dension's website in order to make this Tea Shop.  The pattern was confusing to me because I'm not good with seeing/comprehending numbers.  I prefer the videos but felt bad since the videos are free.

I'm glad I made two different shops at the same time because I don't see myself ever making these again.  The measuring and working with numbers was very confusing and tiring for my brain.  Plus, it was very frustrating to measure a piece only for it not to match up with the other pieces.  And it's a good thing I didn't buy her kit because I went through double the amount of chip board than what was necessary because I read the numbers wrong.

One of my top window pieces doesn't look like her example on her web site because I glued it on wrong...then I had to problem solve in order for the window to be flush with the wall.

Here is the finished product.

This is the matching scrap-book to put inside.  I wish you could see the glitter I put on the paper to add a little bling.
Us ladies go to tea every year, so I thought this would be a fun scrap-book to put all our pictures in.  Especially for my niece!
The scrap-book is different than the one on Laura Denison's video because I didn't want to cut out a Tea Pot pattern from chip board.  Me and the Exacto Knife do not work well together.  I had many fingers with band aids on them after the cutting was done.

So this scrap-book is the Double Envelope pattern that is on Laura Denison's website.  I watched the video and used fun envelopes that were on sale.
