La Piñata....Estudiamos 'Celebraciones' en mi clase de español

Since we are studying celebrations in my Spanish classes I told them they could bring in items that had to do with our new vocabulary....I have been bringing in los regalos (the gifts) every day.  And they could bring in un pastel (a cake), los globos (the balloons), las flores (the flowers), las luces (the lights), and una piñata...you guessed it...a piñata.  Low and behold....on Friday a student actually brought a piñata to class...filled with candy....I am so truly blessed (that the ceiling didn't fall down)!

I have some very strong students!

He lost his legs first.

Very sweet...the students let me have a turn...after they took out his legs and head.

I had tied the rope to the door handle and we used the wooden masher stick Grammy and Grampa gave me from Brazil.

LOS DULCES!!!

La araña pequeñita canciones y otros regalos

Usamos diferentes verbos con los regalos.  Quieres/Quiero y Te gustaría/Me gustaría.

La canciones 'La Araña Pequeñita'.  Y tengo la música en iTunes.....entonces cantamos después abriendo sus regalos.

Primer, las letras de la canciones era en inglés.  Entonces, tuve que traducir las palabras a los españoles.

Un regalo....post-it notes
When I gave the pencils out as gifts on Friday and student said...."Oh, good...I needed one of these."

La familia en mi clase de español

La familia de gatos.

La familia de los actores.  Don't know how Chuck Norris got to be a grandmother....

Trying out new food

Past buy a Guatemalan Pandería and had to stop by.  I was so excited that the woman spoke Spanish with me!  I think it was because she didn't know English very well....so I was forced to use my Spanish.  Usually, people see me and they automatically speak English.  Of course....got a lot of confused looks since I was the only caucasian person in the store.

Next....feeling adventurous....tried a Korean hamburger.

Decided that I am not a big fan of putting an egg on a burger.  Also, there were too many different flavors competing for attention in my mouth....sweet bun, spicy cabbage stuff, egg, spicy/mayo sauce, meat, vegetables and cheese.....confused my brain.

Got a new ipad stand!!!!!

I can have it up-right to type.

I can have it horizontal to use the camera projected on the screen.

Or I can face it downward to invert the camera.

There are games I can have the students play on the ipad and have it projected on the screen.

Here the word 'cuatro' in coming down the screen and the student will have to click on the right number.
Here the audio book is playing on the i-pad but my students will be able to watch and listen through my Smart-board.  I wish there were more free audio books.  Maybe this summer I can do more research to find more.

Los regalos en mi clase de español

So I ask the students if they want a present....."¿Te gustaría un regalo?"
They have to respond in Spanish....' Sí (o No), me gustaría un regalo."
I tell them to open the presents......" Uds. abren los regalos.
And then I ask them what they have......."¿Qué tienes?
They have to respond in Spanish........"Yo tengo un lapiz."

Multi-sensory
Practicing verb conjugation
Practicing vocabulary

Los regalos...lápices y plumas

Post-it notes

Un regalo....el papel picado.

I've wrapped 80 presents so far and I have 40 more tonight.....los dulces y los libros.

Los libros de español.
Los dulces...I hope!

Necesito practicar mi español

¡Hola! Gracias a Dios.
Que tengas una buena noche mis hermanos en Cristo.
