For nine years I have taught a 6-way about caviar without ever trying this elegant dish. We read about beluga, osetra, and sevruga. Beluga having a creamy, buttery taste and Osetra having a nutty flavor. Some of my kids have tried it and only a few have liked it. So when I was at a retirement party and someone was serving caviar I was excited to check this one off my bucket list.
So, I'm guessing this caviar wasn't the expensive Russian buttery flavor specialty. It was very salty and crunchy...like poppy seeds. I'm very appreciative of the experience and it was fun trying it out with co-workers. I find it very ironic that I have finally tasted caviar and will probably never teach the 6-way passage again.
